What is SEBACIA?
Sebacia is a cutting-edge FDA approved treatment for mild to moderate acne.
How does Sebacia work?
Sebacia gold microparticles are applied to the skin and treated with a standard dermatology laser. The laser is used to heat the microparticles and is clinically proven to reduce the number of acne lesions over time.
How long does it take?
The first treatment will take approximately 45 minutes in office, with the sequent treatments taking 30 minutes. A complete treatment cycle includes 3 visits over a period of 2 weeks.
How soon will I see results?
A clinical study showed a significant reduction in acne lesions in 2-3 months. The degree of improvement varies individually and depends on your personal risk factors for the development of acne. Current data shows average improvement of about 65% at 3 months, 74% improvement at 6 months, and 85% improvement at 12 months.
What are the risks of Sebacia?
As with every medical procedure, side effects are possible. The observed side effects from the Sebacia acne treatment in a clinical study were similar to laser hair removal.
What does the procedure feel like?
Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, but most patients describe the sensation as tiny pin pricks or a small rubber band snap against the skin.
How long before I can return to my normal activities?
Following the treatment, skin may appear a little red. This can last a few hours to a couple of days. Patients can go right back to work or school immediately following the procedure.
Why Sebacia over other acne therapies?
This therapy can eliminate the need for daily oral medications, topical medications, or combination therapies used to treat acne.
Some oral medications, like isotretinoin, require a strict monitoring regimen because of possible side effects.
Long term antibiotic use can lead to antibiotic resistance.
What does the procedure cost?
